Whenever a sign comes to them, they say, “We will never believe until we receive what Allah’s messengers received.” Allah knows best where to place His message. The wicked will soon be overwhelmed by humiliation from Allah and a severe punishment for their evil plots.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And when a sign comes to them, they say, "Never will we believe until we are given like that which was given to the messengers of Allah." Allah is most knowing of where [i.e., with whom] He places His message. There will afflict those who committed crimes debasement before Allah and severe punishment for what they used to conspire.

— Saheeh International

Whoever Allah wills to guide, He opens their heart to Islam.1 But whoever He wills to leave astray, He makes their chest tight and constricted as if they were climbing up into the sky. This is how Allah dooms those who disbelieve.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

So whoever Allah wants to guide - He expands his breast to [contain] Islām; and whoever He wants to send astray1 - He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allah place defilement upon those who do not believe.

— Saheeh International

That is your Lord’s Path—perfectly straight. We have already made the signs clear to those who are mindful.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And this is the path of your Lord, [leading] straight. We have detailed the verses for a people who remember.

— Saheeh International

ﭿ

They will have the Home of Peace with their Lord, Who will be their Guardian because of what they used to do.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

For them will be the Home of Peace [i.e., Paradise] with their Lord. And He will be their protecting friend because of what they used to do.

— Saheeh International

˹Consider˺ the Day He will gather them ˹all˺ together and say, “O assembly of jinn! You misled humans in great numbers.” And their human associates will say, “Our Lord! We benefited from each other’s company,1 but now we have reached the term which You appointed for us.” ˹Then˺ He will say, “The Fire is your home, yours to stay in forever, except whoever Allah wills to spare.”2 Surely your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And [mention, O Muḥammad], the Day when He will gather them together [and say], "O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind." And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term which You appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allah wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing."

— Saheeh International

This is how We make the wrongdoers ˹destructive˺ allies of one another because of their misdeeds.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And thus will We make some of the wrongdoers allies of others for what they used to earn.1

— Saheeh International

˹Allah will ask,˺ “O assembly of jinn and humans! Did messengers not come from among you, proclaiming My revelations and warning you of the coming of this Day of yours?” They will say, “We confess against ourselves!” For they have been deluded by ˹their˺ worldly life. And they will testify against themselves that they were disbelievers.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

"O company of jinn and mankind,1 did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "We bear witness against ourselves"; and the worldly life had deluded them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.

— Saheeh International

This ˹sending of the messengers˺ is because your Lord would never destroy a society for their wrongdoing while its people are unaware ˹of the truth˺.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

That is because your Lord would not destroy the cities for wrongdoing1 while their people were unaware.

— Saheeh International

They will each be assigned ranks according to their deeds. And your Lord is not unaware of what they do.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And for all are degrees [i.e., positions resulting] from what they have done. And your Lord is not unaware of what they do.

— Saheeh International

Your Lord is the Self-Sufficient, Full of Mercy. If He wills, He can do away with you and replace you with whoever He wills, just as He produced you from the offspring of other people.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And your Lord is the Free of need, the possessor of mercy. If He wills, He can do away with you and give succession after you to whomever He wills, just as He produced you from the descendants of another people.

— Saheeh International

Indeed, what you have been promised will certainly come to pass. And you will have no escape.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

Indeed, what you are promised is coming, and you will not cause failure [to Allah].1

— Saheeh International
