As for poets, they are followed ˹merely˺ by deviants.

And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;
— Saheeh International
Do you not see how they rant in every field,1
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Do you not see that in every valley they roam1
— Saheeh International
only saying what they never do?
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And that they say what they do not do? -
— Saheeh International
Except those who believe, do good, remember Allah often, and ˹poetically˺ avenge ˹the believers˺ after being wrongfully slandered. The wrongdoers will come to know what ˹evil˺ end they will meet.

Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims]1 after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
